Get Help With Your Lay-Z-Spa Cover

Covers can start to flake because of their age, over use of chemicals or lack of due care. This will not affect the use of your spa, although you may find that it provides less insulation.

If you believe the problem is due to a manufacturing fault, please feel free to contact us. Replacement covers can also be purchased from our Lay-Z-Spa Covers & Liners category.

Symptom: Pinking

Solution: Pinkish staining is a by-product of a micro-organism called Streptoverticillium Reticulum. The micro-organism is often present in areas of high humidity and is usually deposited by the rain.

Although the vinyl coating on a spa is treated to resist bacteria (meaning it is not a suitable food source), it is still a perfect host site for this particular micro-organism. Other than looking strange, staining should not affect the use of your liner or enjoyment of your spa.

Despite the fact that the pinkish staining is extremely difficult to remove, regularly cleaning your liner should prevent Streptoverticillium Reticulum from ever appearing.

Unfortunately, this is not a manufacturing defect and the Aftersales Team will not be able to replace this under warranty for you. The pinking will not cause any problems with using the spa but unfortunately, will look unsightly. Replacement liners can be purchased from our Lay-Z-Spa Covers & Liners category.

Symptom: Mould

Solution: This is usually caused by the liner being damp when putting your Lay-Z-Spa away for the winter. Mould can be cleaned using diluted washing up liquid or the Clearwater Scale and Stain Remover. This product will not harm the liner in any way.

Split seams can be caused when the liner is over inflated, making it too big to place the cover on. Seams can also split if you try to remove the spa when full.

This problem normally occurs when a new liner has been purchased or replaced under warranty. New liners need a little time to expand before they reach the correct size. As a result, the cover may seem too big for the liner.

The rate at which the liner expands depends on the ambient air temperature and how often the water is heated. Once the liner has fully expanded, the cover should fit fine.

This problem is usually caused when the liner or lid has been over inflated. To resolve the problem, deflate the liner or lid until you can fit the cover perfectly over the top.

Cover clips are usually broken when the spa is over inflated, making it hard to secure them over the top. Seams can also split if you try to remove the spa when full.
